TL;DR — In short

  • Door to door between Paris and London, roughly eight hours including the crossing.
  • Your animal travels in the cabin with a companion, never in a hold and never alone.
  • Eurotunnel crossing by car. No cargo hold, no cabin pressure, no separation.
  • Owners may travel with the animal or entrust it to us entirely.

Why the road, not the air

Most airlines will not carry a dog above a few kilos in the cabin, which leaves the hold. The hold means a crate, a loading bay, a temperature and pressure your animal has never experienced, and several hours without anyone it knows.

The Eurotunnel changes the calculation entirely. The car is loaded onto the shuttle and the animal stays in the cabin with its companion for the thirty-five minute crossing. There is no separation at any point between your door in Paris and your door in London.

The paperwork

The United Kingdom operates strict rules for animals arriving from the European Union. A microchip, a rabies vaccination administered after the chip, and an animal health certificate issued by an official veterinarian within ten days of travel. Dogs additionally require tapeworm treatment administered between twenty-four and one hundred and twenty hours before arrival.

We check the documents before departure and we will tell you plainly if something is missing, because an animal turned back at Coquelles is a wasted day for everyone. We do not issue the certificates ourselves, but we will tell you exactly what to ask your veterinarian for and when.

Rules change. We verify the current requirements at the time of booking rather than relying on what was true last season.

The journey itself

Paris to the terminal at Coquelles is about three hours, the crossing is thirty-five minutes, and Folkestone to central London is another two and a half. We stop for water and exercise on both sides.

The vehicle is prepared for the animal rather than merely tolerating it: protective covers, a secured travel crate or harness according to size, water available throughout, and climate control set for a coat rather than for a suit. You receive updates at each stage, with a photograph if you are not travelling.

Frequently asked.

Can I travel with my animal? +

Yes, and most owners do. You may also entrust the animal to us entirely, in which case you receive updates and photographs along the way.

Does my animal travel in a crate? +

In a secured travel crate or a harness, depending on size, and always inside the cabin with a person. Never in a hold and never alone.

What if the paperwork is wrong? +

We check it before departure precisely so that it is not discovered at the terminal. If something is missing we tell you while it can still be fixed.

Do you go anywhere other than London? +

Yes. Any United Kingdom address, and the same road service applies across continental Europe.
